Zinfandel, the grape made famous by Californian vineyards, has strong roots tied very closely to a grape that is within kilometers of our dedicated food & wine bar here in Split.
In the 2012 book “Wine Grapes Masters of Wine” – Jancis Robinson, Julia Harding and Swiss grape geneticist Dr. José Vouillamoz thoroughly investigated Zinfandel’s origins. After years of research and DNA testing of wines from vineyards across the globe, a single 90-year-old grapevine in Croatia, provided the evidence to show that Zinfandel was a Croatian grape.
Since opening in May 2013, we have acquired a reputation as one of Split’s best wine bars, and as a turning point in Split’s local dining scene. Zinfandel is a friendly and interactive environment to sample some top Croatian wines along with a passionate menu to complete the entire experience. With live music every night in the summer, Zinfandel is the perfect choice for your evening out.
We have understood from the day we opened that we are part of the fabric of the city, and we have always embraced being quintessentially Dalmatian.
Our restaurant, with a striking central bar and informal seating, is the perfect spot to enjoy our seasonal menu any time of the day or evening. Zinfandel is comfortable and relaxed and seats up to 60 people.
